Meet the team

THE TEAM BEHIND DEBT PLAN IRELAND AND THE EXPERIENCE THEY BRING TO DEBT NEGOTIATING, COUNSELLING AND MANAGEMENT OF DEBT.

Our consultants have over 50 years experience in the Financial Services Industry. Our aim is to help clients with difficulties in meeting their debts by means of renogiation of the debt, with professional advice and putting in place debt managemement programmes. Debt Plan Ireland established in February 2009 to help our clients with ongoing debt problems.

Managing Partners:

Donal Atkins

Donal started his financial career in Irish Nationwide Building Society, where he spent five years as section head in the mortgage advances department. Donal was invited to join Mellon Financial Services as senior consultant and spent a further five years there before becoming the founding managing director of Atkins Mortgage & Insurances Ltd in 2000.

Donal is a past director of the Professional Brokers Association and also served on their mortgage committee.

In his personal life Donal lives in Dublin, with his partner and has two children. He has always had a keen interest in voluntary organisations and was a member of the Vincent de Paul conference, St Joseph the Worker, for eight years. He was Vice President for four years and acting President for one year. This gave Donal on the ground experience of assisting people who found themselves in financial difficulty and with debt problems.

Emmet Pullan

For 10 years Emmet was a Director of Atkins Mortgage & Insurances Ltd. Emmet’s comprehensive consumer debt resolution knowledge arises from 10 years as a mortgage and finance arrears advisor with Irish Nationwide Building Society and IIB Finance Group. Emmet is a monthly editorial contributor of You and Your Money Magazine.

Emmet has also worked with Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance and the Fitzpatrick Hotel Group.

He was Educated in Rice College, Ennis, Co Clare and studied Science in Brighton Polytechnic.

Emmet is vice chairman of The Debt Management Association of Ireland (DMAI)

In his personal life, Emmet is married with 2 children, living in Dublin. He is an active member of Ballyboden St Endas GAA Club where he has managed hurling teams from juvenile to senior level. Guiding the Ballyboden under 21 hurlers to 3 Dublin Championships in 2003, 2006 and 2007.

Mark Atkins

Mark was Director of Atkins Mortgage & Insurance for 10 years with the specific responsibility of client relationship manager looking after the needs and requirements of existing clients of Atkins Mortgage & Insurance.

Mark qualified in counseling from UCC where he worked with support groups in Cork City dealing with issues such as dependency, further education and homelessness. It is in this context that Mark has a keen insight to the very stressful nature of consumer debt and the need for our clients to have an understanding ear on top of a professional solution.

In his personal life Mark is married with 2 children and lives in Wicklow. Mark has a keen interest in Politics and sports.
